The
Bathhouse

The Bathhouse is an octagonal bath for the campground at Shenoa Retreat Center. Open to the outside, it's light and airy. Private shower and bath rooms share fresh breezes and a view of the intricate roof beams and cupola.
The Bathhouse came about over dinner one warm summer night at Shenoa when we sketched an octagonal design with pie-shaped rooms, similar to a Shaker horse barn. A plan like this fits more facilities into less space (about 2/3 of a rectangle), so savings in materials and labor more than make up for the intricacies of the design. The Bathhouse has become a popular "landmark" of the retreat center.

The Bathhouse is the second of it's kind--the first was built a few years before at another retreat center in a Northern California forest...

The Bathhouse was designed by John Swearingen and Janet Johnston
