The
Bathhouse |

The Bathhouse is an octagonal bath for the campground at Shenoa Retreat Center. Open to the outside, it's light and airy. Private shower and bath rooms share fresh breezes and a view of the intricate roof beams and cupola. |

The Bathhouse came about over dinner one warm summer night at Shenoa when we sketched an octagonal design with pie-shaped rooms, similar to a Shaker horse barn. A plan like this fits more facilities into less space (about 2/3 of a rectangle), so savings in materials and labor more than make up for the intricacies of the design. The Bathhouse has become a popular "landmark" of the retreat center. The Bathhouse is the second of it's kind--the first was built a few years before at another retreat center in a Northern California forest... |
