Lake View

This house in the Sierra foothills is carefully placed on a steep grade overlooking a large pond.

Fine workmanship and careful detailing, combine with elegant fixtures to make this a house to enjoy up close.

Locally harvested and milled wood was used for sills, ledges and posts. Although sunlight is abundant through southern windows, for cold weeks in winter the owners have a choice of heat: tile floors with radiant heat, a masonry stove/oven, or a fireplace.

Casement windows and patio doors allow the building to be cooled and ventilated at night during the summer, when temperatures go into the 90's.
