Skillful Means
spent a winter in Miami, and while there we were commissioned
to design and build a recreation area for the elderly residents
of one of the hotels on the beach--a place for cards, socializing
and also for walking exercise. We staked out the area with reclaimed
piers and cast-off tugboat line, and hardened paths by adding
a little cement to the local sand.
Using reclaimed materials we
constructed a shade deck. Finally, we brought in local Indians
to construct traditional grass shelters.
The new facilities were a great
hit with the residents and a lot of fun for us to build. The
warm water and gentle breezes, and the appreciation of the folks
down there, remain fond memories.
