The Silicon Solar House

The Silicon Solar House
is a passive solar house
with careful attention to craftsmanship and details.
The home features sustainably harvested and recycled wood, lime-wash paint, and in-floor heat below a stained concrete slab. The southern glazed walls are wood-frame with Hardi-Panel siding. Other walls are straw-bale.

The Great Room has a high, sloping ceiling carefully fitted with corrugated sheet metal and is supported by a single cedar post. Long, clear spans were made possible by the use of Structural Insulated Panels.

Intricate mosaic work surrounds the fireplace and kitchen stove, and graces the entry walk....
