The outside of bale buildings may be covered with a variety
of materials, but usually some kind of plaster--cement, gypsum, lime or
earth--is used.

The walls can be finished straight and flat, but usually people
like to leave the gentle undulations of the bales visable to
create subtle shadows and textures.

Windows can be inset for shade and depth and still leave plenty
of room left for a deep sill on the inside.
Deep set windows add drama and depth to a building's exterior.
